In September and October 2016 we will tour with James Dunham as part of Chamber Music New Zealand’s Kaleidoscopes Concert Season 2016. This special tour highlights masterpieces from Brahms and Mozart.
When Mozart wrote his first double-viola quintet, he created a new sound world that he continued to explore for the rest of his life. His later quintets are at the pinnacle of the chamber music repertoire. A century later Brahms was inspired to write two of his most eloquent chamber works for the same combination.
We begin with an 11am concert performed by the Pettman Players, a group of aspiring young Kiwi musicians, timed perfectly to enjoy with your mid-morning coffee.
NZSQ & James Dunham then perform two concerts, at 3pm and 7.30pm, each featuring one of the Brahms Quintets paired with one of the great Mozart Quintets.
The festival also includes a feature discussing the Brahms and Mozart connection, hosted by Frances Moore.
Single tickets on sale from Monday 1 Feb 2016, or you can book now as part of a subscription package with Chamber Music New Zealand.
