Chamber Music New Zealand Composer Connections Series

April 2015

Celebrate our musical cultural heritage with a journey of discovery through collaboration, innovation and inspiration. Witness the special connection between composer and performer and the evolving process of composition through to performance. We will perform in Wellington, Hamilton, Invercargill and Dunedin as part of a shared tour with NZTrio and the New Zealand Chamber Soloists. Each of the three ensembles will perform in different parts of the country during New Zealand Music Month (with Wellington audiences getting a pre-view in April in a concert presented in association with the Wellington Chamber Music Society). The three programmes have been curated by New Zealand composers who have chosen music that deeply influences them in their work placed alongside their own compositions.

Programme Two features the NZ String Quartet and Auckland pianist Stephen de Pledge in works by Ross Harris, set alongside chamber music by Bach, Mozart and Shostakovich. The programme will include the premiere of Ross’s Piano Quintet.
