August international touring

27 June 2019 / News

Almost straight after we wrap up our National Tour, we’ll be jetting off again. This time to Canada, where we’ll perform in Toronto’s Music Garden. Our 1 August concert is a free event for all ages. Last year our concert here was attended by hundreds of people making the most of the summer sunshine. Now in it’s 20th year, the Toronto Music Garden line-up includes a wide variety of musical styles in an idyllic setting. To find out details see this link.

Summer Music in the Garden 2018

After warming up in the city, we’re heading to Parry Sound, Ontario. Here, we'll perform in the 40th season of Festival of the Sound, an annual chamber music event just outside of Toronto that attracts some of the finest international soloists and ensembles. Joining us in concert this year will be the Canadian Guitar Quartet, violinist Moshe Hammer, and the Penderecki String Quartet. In fact, 2019 marks our 15th season playing at Festival of the Sound. It’s sure to be another great experience – making new connections and strengthening our existing ones.

Then it’s off to the west coast, for the Pender Harbour Chamber Music Festival in British Columbia. Once again, this festival sees us performing contemporary and classical repertoire in numerous concerts. This year our colleagues will include pianist Alexander Tselyakov, and clarinettist James Campbell (with whom we recorded the Brahms Clarinet Quintet with for Naxos). Visit here for more information. Collaborating and performing with musicians internationally means that we get to share New Zealand music with the world. Once we’re back in Aotearoa in late August, we’re looking forward to sharing new music and experiences gained on our Canadian tour with our students and audiences.
