Our 2019 National Tour begins TOMORROW! This year we’re performing two different programmes, full of music to get excited about. Whether it’s your first time, or your fiftieth time hearing these works, there’s always something new to discover.

Earlier this month we spent a busy Queens Birthday Weekend up at the New Zealand School of Music. This is the fourth year we have run our Queens Birthday Chamber Music Weekend, coaching chamber music groups of talented secondary students.

Almost straight after we wrap up our National Tour, we’ll be jetting off again. This time to Canada, where we’ll perform in Toronto’s Music Garden. Our 1 August concert is a free event for all ages.

A concert by the NZ String Quartet is always an event to look forward to. This is the quartet’s 32nd season, and over the years they have gained an international reputation. In this concert they covered a broad period of the musical development of the string quartet.

Dick Oatts is a respected educator and player from America. An alto specialist, who in 1977 was shoulder-tapped to join the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. He’s also toured or recorded with the likes of Sarah Vaughan, Joe Henderson, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Lovano and Mel Tormé.
