Dangerous Liaisons tour underway

16 August 2017 / News

It’s great to be on the road again, touring our beautiful country with some of our absolute favourite pieces of music. We couldn’t have wished for a more picturesque place to start the tour than Queenstown, nor a more stunning venue than the Lodge at the Hills, hosted by Sir Michael and Lady Christine Hill. We’re so grateful to them both for opening up their beautiful home to us.

We hope you’ve seen some of the short videos we’ve recorded, in which Monique, Gillian and Helene have discussed works in our tour repertoire by Beethoven, Bartók, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Janáček. If not, you’ll find them on our own NZSQ YouTube channel.

You might have noticed there’s one work we haven’t shared with you yet – Jack Body’s Saetas. Rolf switches from cello to the accordion in this work, so we asked him to give us a demo and to tell us a bit about Jack’s piece…

Once again, we’d like to thank our sponsors who have made this tour possible, in particular: Creative New Zealand, The Turnovsky Endowment Trust, Cloudy Bay, Nelson Pine, The Lion Foundation, New Zealand Community Trust and Foundation North

We can’t wait to see you on the next leg of the tour!
