This year’s national tour in August/September will see us perform four carefully curated programmes of groundbreaking works which each, in their own way, have affected the future of string quartet composition.  

In Memoriam

The New Zealand String Quartet and opera singer Jared Holt join forces to premiere a new song cycle, In Memoriam, by New Zealand composer Janet Jennings - settings of poems by poet and soldier Edward Thomas, who was killed in the Battle of Arras in 1917.

Dangerous Liaisons 2017 30th Anniversary Tour

Join us on our 30th-anniversary tour for a concert filled with passion, yearning, joy and heartache. Each of our two programmes explores themes of love and desire and will take you on an emotional journey through some of the great works of the repertoire.

Bravo! Britten 2013

This centenary year, the New Zealand String Quartet has been inspired to create two colourful and thought-provoking programmes – each constructed around one of Britten’s masterful string quartets. The kaleidoscope of works will comprise of composers close to Britten’s heart who have had a profound influence on his writing.
