KATHRYN STOTT & NZSQ

We’re thrilled to be touring in May with British pianist Kathryn Stott for Chamber Music New Zealand. We first met Kathryn in 2007 when we performed the Brahms Piano Quintet with her at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music in Townsville. We enjoyed working with her so much that we invited her to be a guest artist at the 2015 Adam Chamber Music Festival in Nelson where she gave a solo recital, a masterclass and performed the Franck, Dvorak and Shostakovich piano quintets with us. Gillian says:

We absolutely loved her playing — she has an intensely singing tone, very beautiful voicing, and a virtuoso technique. Kathryn has a spirited personality and is great fun to be around so it will be such a treat to be on tour with her for Chamber Music New Zealand.

We’ll be playing three quite contrasting piano quintets on the tour: Cesar Franck’s passionate Piano Quintet in F minor, Anton Dvorak’s folk-inspired Piano Quintet in A and John Psathas’s Piano Quintet, premiered by us with Stephen Gosling in 2000.
