This year’s national tour in August/September will see us perform four carefully curated programmes of groundbreaking works which each, in their own way, have affected the future of string quartet composition.
We return to the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts for a special lunchtime concert, featuring Webern's highly romantic Langsamer Satz and one of Beethoven's most astonishing late quartets, the Quartet in C# minor, op 131.
Join us for Beethoven’s String Quartet in G op 18 no 2 and Janacek’s String Quartet no 2 “Intimate Letters" as part of the New Zealand School of Music Lunchtime Concert Series.
We're joined on this Chamber Music New Zealand tour by celebrated pianist Piers Lane and former NZSO Principal Bassist Hiroshi Ikematsu for Schubert's popular 'Trout' Quintet, as well as a brand new work on the theme of trout fishing, Orowaru, by Ross Harris.
Helene and NZSM's Head of Piano Jian Liu join forces to perform Schubert's Sonatina in D for violin and piano, Prokofiev's Violin Sonata no 1 in F minor, and Retenishn (Mysteries) by Ross Harris as part of the New Zealand School of Music's Lunchtime Concert Series.
